MBBS in Uzbekistan 2026: Fees, Eligibility, Universities and Admission Guide

Understand NMC rules, real costs in rupees, climate and the full admission process, so you can choose a safe Uzbek medical university with confidence.

  • No donation
  • English medium

Why Indian Students Choose MBBS in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan has become a popular budget destination for Indian medical aspirants. Tuition is lower than in many other countries, the programme is taught in English, and big cities such as Tashkent and Samarkand have Indian students, Indian food in hostels and restaurants, and a welcoming local culture. For many families, it is an affordable way to turn a NEET result into a medical career.

At the same time, NMC has issued an advisory about selected institutions in Uzbekistan, so this is a destination where careful verification matters more than anywhere else. Read the NMC advisory section below before you shortlist any university.

  • English-medium programmes in the universities we recommend
  • No donation or capitation fee
  • Lower tuition than many other destinations
  • Indian food and an Indian student community in major cities

Is MBBS in Uzbekistan Valid in India?

Yes, if the university is listed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for Indian students and you follow NMC rules. The course must include at least 54 months of study and 12 months of internship at the same university. After returning, you must pass the FMGE licensing exam to register and practise in India.

Lists of recognised universities change from time to time, and websites quote different numbers. Verify your shortlisted university on the official NMC website before paying any fee.

NMC Advisory on Uzbekistan: What Students Must Know

NMC issued an advisory dated 1 April 2026 on selected institutions in Uzbekistan, citing concerns such as excess student intake, weak hands-on training, language problems and arrangements where part of the programme is run outside the main campus. The Indian embassy in Tashkent has also issued advisories in the past. This does not mean every university is unsafe, but it means a careful check is essential. Read the advisory on the official NMC website.

  • Confirm the university is on the current NMC list and is not named in any advisory
  • Get written confirmation that the whole course and internship happen on the main campus with in-person clinical training
  • Ask how many students are admitted each year and how many hospital beds are available
  • Check the FMGE pass record of Indian graduates
  • Do not pay the full fee before verifying these points

MBBS in Uzbekistan Eligibility for Indian Students 2026

NEET Requirement

Indian students must qualify NEET UG to be eligible for medical admission abroad. A university that offers a seat without NEET puts your registration in India at risk.

Age and Academic Criteria

  • 17 years of age on or before 31 December of the admission year
  • 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
  • Minimum marks in PCB as required by NMC and the university, commonly around 50 percent for the general category, so confirm for your university
  • Valid passport and medical fitness

Admission Process for Uzbek Medical Universities: Step by Step

The process is straightforward when you start early. Most universities open applications after the NEET result, and the main intake is around September or October.

MBBS in Uzbekistan Fees 2026: Total Cost in INR for Indian Students

Published estimates vary a lot. Tuition is often quoted at about USD 3,000 to USD 3,500 a year, roughly Rs 2.8 lakh to Rs 3.3 lakh. Some sources put the total course cost at about Rs 18 lakh to Rs 28 lakh, while sources that count living and other charges quote Rs 35 lakh to Rs 70 lakh. The difference comes from what is included, so always ask what the figure covers.

Tuition Fee

Tuition is paid every year. Ask for the fee of all six years and check whether it can increase.

Hostel and Living Cost

Hostel and food are usually separate. Living costs are lower than in Tashkent in smaller cities.

Other Costs

  • Student visa, medical checks and registration
  • Return flights
  • Health insurance
  • FMGE preparation and exam fees

These are indicative figures from published sources. Always take the current fee sheet of your exact university in writing, with every charge listed, and never pay before the verification steps above.

Top Medical Colleges in Uzbekistan

Because of the NMC advisory dated 1 April 2026, we list only institutions that published sources report as not named in that advisory. This is not a ranking or an endorsement, and the information can change.

Best Universities for MBBS in Uzbekistan: How to Choose

City and University

Medical universities that attract Indian students are mainly in Tashkent, Samarkand and Fergana. A big city offers more hospitals and flights, while smaller cities can be cheaper. Do not choose by city or fee alone, because the NMC advisory applies to specific institutions.

What to Check Before You Pay

  • The university is on the current NMC list for Indian students
  • Teaching in English for the entire course
  • Hospital attached to the university and patient load
  • Number of Indian students, hostel and food
  • FMGE pass record of past Indian graduates

Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing a University

Choosing only by fee

A low fee can hide weak clinical training or a poor exam record.

Trusting ranking lists blindly

Many websites rank universities as advertisements. Verify recognition on the official NMC site instead.

Accepting verbal promises

Anything not written in the admission agreement can be denied later. Keep every receipt and the signed agreement.

Course Duration, Language and Curriculum

The course runs for six years, which includes a one-year internship. Teaching is in English, and students learn basic Uzbek or Russian to talk to patients during clinical postings. NMC expects the full course and the internship to be completed at the same university, with in-person teaching and clinical training.

Ask the university for the programme structure in writing, and confirm that no part of the course is delivered through an arrangement outside the main campus.

Year-by-Year Subjects in the Medical Course

Basic Sciences

The first years cover anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and basic local language, along with medical ethics.

Para-Clinical Subjects

Pathology, microbiology, pharmacology and forensic medicine connect basic science to disease.

Clinical Subjects

The final years cover medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and community medicine in the university hospital. The schedule differs by university, so ask for the syllabus.

Life in Uzbekistan for Indian Students

Food and Hostel

Indian food is available in many hostels and restaurants in major cities, and Indian students often share accommodation.

Climate

Summers are hot and winters can be cold, so carry both light and warm clothing.

Safety and Travel

Cities such as Tashkent and Samarkand are generally considered safe for students, but check the latest travel advisory of the Ministry of External Affairs and follow university and local rules. Direct flights from India are available to Tashkent.

Student Visa and Travel to Uzbekistan

After the admission letter, the university arranges an invitation for your student visa. You apply with your passport, invitation, photographs and medical documents. Apply early because processing times can change.

  • Receive the admission letter and fee receipt
  • Complete the visa application with documents
  • Book your ticket after the visa is approved
  • Report to the university and hostel on time

NMC Rules and FMGE After Studying Medicine in Uzbekistan

After returning to India, a foreign medical graduate must pass the FMGE licensing exam (NMC has announced that NExT may replace it, so check the current notice) and, as per current NMC rules, complete a supervised internship at an NMC-recognised hospital in India before full registration. Pass rates differ a lot between universities, so ask for the record of the one you are considering. Keep your degree, internship certificate and registration papers safe.

  • NEET qualification before admission
  • An NMC-listed university
  • The full course and internship at one university
  • Registration after the licensing exam

Career After Studying Medicine in Uzbekistan

After your internship you return to India, pass the FMGE and register with NMC. You can then practise, prepare for postgraduate entrance exams, or plan further training abroad. Many graduates start FMGE preparation in the final years so that they can clear it in the first attempt, and a good university will support you with revision classes and past records.

Keep your degree, internship certificate and transcripts attested and safe, since you will need them for registration and for any later application.
